Earlier this week I asked if anyone would like to share a poem with me about Love and all that encompasses it. The idea was inspired by my recent song ‘A Love You Won’t Find Twice’ and I was intrigued to hear other peoples take on the idea of a once in a life time love.
I’m starting off with a poem by Des Wilson, a really great friend of mine and a women I find extremely inspirational! She is a total free spirit and a bad ass boss woman (being the COO of Freck) Thanks Des and all the others I will be posting throughout the week, for sharing your words with me.

I’ve been staring out your window for two whole days
Wondering if you’ll come back
And if un-phased

Sometimes it takes people to show you who’ve become
To help you guide yourself out of the dim
To help you grow a green thumb

To show you what beauty is and what it is not
To take you around without a blind spot

To make sure you miss nothing, even when it’s miles away
To make you never want to leave and always want to stay

To hold you steady when it’s windy and watch you run when it’s still
To promise someday to take you to a windmill

To support you when you fall, emotionally and actual
Because that’s what we want to do, it always comes natural

You’re the most fascinating person for which I’ve ever met
The ways you think about details
The things you’ll never let yourself forget

At times I wish I could look through your eyes
The colors, the movements
A kaleidoscope in disguise

Sometimes I look at you and I can’t understand
How someone can be so perfect
It’s like living in a dreamland

Hurting you was the last thing I ever wanted to do
I wish I could take it back
I wish I could undo

I wish I didn’t have to wish anymore
Because wishing is false hope
And I want more

The memory of the pine tree swaying left to right
The squirrel on the top, gathering for his dinner for the night

The sun shadowing in on the side of your neighbour’s house
The clouds passing through like a tourist in a rouse

I never want to leave; I always want to be with you
And when I say forever, I mean forever and true.

– Des Wilson

Give Me Love…

These are the lyrics from a song of mine called “Give Me Love” . The song is about the simple desire to be loved by a person who is too afraid to truly love you back. Or that maybe you’re both too afraid to admit that the relationship would not survive without the self destruction and drama.
The Image above is a still from the music video; shot by Bella Howard and Laura Colada, starring Austin Williams from Swim Deep as Ginger George…x

Give me love
Won’t you lay by my side
You say the devils words but,
Heaven’s in those eyes
Give me love
Is it too much to bare
Always too scared
oh no no

Don’t you tell me I’m the one
oh hmm hmm
Don’t you tell me nothings Wrong

Don’t let us die
Or live a lie forever, forever
And you can try
But you’ll never find
A love that’s better x2
oh oh x3
Give me love

Lift me up
No I don’t wanna come down
Is it wrong of me to say
That things hurt less when you’re around
Lift me up
Don’t be so gentle with me
Cause there’s darker things I’ve seen
And I’m not as sweet as I seem

Don’t you tell me I’m the one
oh hmm hmm
Don’t you tell me nothings Wrong

Don’t let us die
Or live a lie forever, forever
And you can try
But you’ll never find
A love that’s better x2
oh oh x3
Give me love

HOME…

Sparkling green tassels
swaying in the warm
breeze.
The air feels like a kiss
to the skin.
The clouds are swirling in
a cinematic, slow motion
and I have never felt so
small and peaceful.
It’s as if I am…
about to discover a
universal secret & part
of my soul has shifted
forever.
The stillness is thick
and the colour of the
wild, exotic flowers
cuts through it, like the
worlds most beautiful
blade.
The sun gleams through
the oak tree, I am home.

– She Moves

A poem written by my sister who is an incredible writer and inspires me all the time!

A blank canvas waiting
for the colours of your
love To splash across my
surface
I eagerly waited with
such high expectation so
full of love and naive
aspirations
And then you came and
instead of love you tore
me apart and smashed me to
the ground
My very fibre torn apart
by selfishness and hate
There I lay discarded in
the gutter full of self-
doubt and pity
wondering what I did
wrong not to please you?
But like the humble
beginnings of life the
little tendrils of survival
wove themselves back
together
Re-joined my fabric of
life the pure essence of
energy itself refusing to
let me go
And then I realised
I’m not really blank
I colour myself
I am the picture of
whatever I want to be
You no longer hold the
brushes of inspiration
I’ve lived to fight another
day
Master of my own
goddamned destiny
I’m the fucking artist
now
No longer blank but full
of colour on my own two
feet
CAN YOU SEE THE
PICTURE I’M ABOUT TO
BE?

– Mariane Champion

A little out of shape
And a little too thin
At times way too quiet
And at others, too confident
Where’s your je ne sais quoi?
Where’s your expensive make-up?
You crave the love
But are more comfortable with the break-up

A little bit strange
And a little bit off
I can’t tell you what you are
But I can tell you what you’re not!
You can write the words
But you can’t be the singer
Nobody wants a sad girl
We just want a winner

A little bit pretty
But a little too serious
It’s just not that fashionable,
To still be mysterious
But I love the beauty
And I love the sin
I have many sides
I am more than one thing!
I wouldn’t say you’re wrong
But then I wouldn’t say you’re right
I’m tired of being the girl that just isn’t quite!

– She Moves

Name a place that you feel safe…
Is it home or on the road?
Where your story has not yet been told
Where you do not know a single soul
Where trouble is a forgotten word
and your sun kissed skin is all that burns
Where days like waves, roll into the night
and you chase the stars till morning light
Lost in between these giant mountains
All I need is the pen that I write with
They say in this life, the best things are
free,
And I can’t explain why I always leave
Cause if you run, you could run forever
And if you don’t stop soon, then you may never!
So name a place that you feel safe…
I hope that you say, in your lovers grace.

Last Friday night over a drink Natalie Stagnaro shared her beautiful poetry with me and as I haven’t posted in a while; I’d like to share two poems by her. Natalie’s words really resonate with me.

The time after the depression
When it’s lifted
Memorise what this feels like

It feels like his shoes are brown
This train is full of people
Who are on the same train
As you.

The stars we saw
Were construction lights but we
didn’t know anything else
We tried so hard to think
We were the only things real in that
constructed world
But it didn’t matter how hard we hit
and tried to crack
We could only be the hard plastic
that came with it all
Impossible to break
Constantly building
Nothing genuine
Always new
Adjusting
To the most fake thing
We’ve ever seen

LOVE YOU WON’T FIND TWICE

Love You Won’t Find Twice is a song I’ve written recently, that means a lot to me and I’m really happy to be sharing today..
It’s a live recording and is probably the most honest, raw and exposing song of mine. I think you can probably hear every insecurity and hope in it, but that’s okay lol.
This isn’t a ‘single’ (I will be releasing an EP soon) this is just me wanting to share a song that I love.
Hope you guys love it too…x

Should’ve been easier
That would have been nice
Cause you know we’ve found a love,
You won’t find twice
If I didn’t listen
If I wasn’t there
Please don’t think that I was too selfish to care
I was falling away
and I fell too far down
But it’s the only way that I could make a sound

And words…
The moment you say them
And you hope you don’t break them
But sometimes it don’t turn out
The way you thought it would
But I hope you can take them
Keep them and save them
Remember a time when it was simple and so good
Cause you know you’ve found a love you won’t find twice,
Cause you know you’ve found a love you won’t find twice

If I was wrong
Let me say sorry
Cause I’ve never known how to let someone love me
I’ve spent so long now
Trying to be someone else
Sometimes the hardest thing is just to be yourself
I was falling away
And I fell too far down
But it’s the only way that I could become found

And words…
The moment you say them
And you hope you don’t break them
But sometimes it don’t turn out
The way you thought it would
But I hope you can take them
Keep them and save them
Remember a time when it was simple and so good
Cause you know you’ve found a love you won’t find twice,
Cause you know you’ve found a love you won’t find twice

I Will Be Here Still

A love poem I wrote for my wedding day x

When we’ve sung all that we have to sing
and we no longer have the words…
When we’ve travelled all across the world
like beautiful, flightless birds,
I will be here still.

When we’ve drunk in every pub in soho
to last us a lifetime…
And we’ve laughed down every cobbled street
with your hand placed in mine,
I will be here still.

When our little boy grows to be a man
and learns the wonders of life’s romance…
And we’ve watched his children’s children
sing and laugh and dance,
I will be here still.

When your hair turns from light to grey
and no longer has youth’s shine…
When you’ve seen a thousand starry nights
to fade the sparkle in your eye,
I will journey with you until the end;

Until we are but fragile figures
I will lie with you at your side
Until your voice becomes a whisper,
And I will love you still.
